The foundation of a productive pistachio orchard with Fertilone 8.8.14.
<
Basal fertilization in pistachio is essential to replenish the nutrients extracted during the cycle and prepare the next season. An organo-mineral fertilizer such as Fertilone® 8.8.14 allows this replenishment to be carried out efficiently and easily.
Pistachio requires high levels of potassium, which is key for nut filling, shell opening, and fruit quality, along with phosphorus to keep the root system active and promote next year’s flowering. Nitrogen, on the other hand, should be applied in moderation to avoid excessive vigor and reduce yield alternation.
In Spain, since pistachios are usually grown in dryland areas with low organic matter, it is essential to use fertilizers that improve soil structure and fertility, leaving a stable reserve of nutrients in the profile and increasing water retention capacity.

In the production phase, the goal of fertilization is to replenish the nutrients removed by the harvest and maintain balance between vegetative growth and fruiting. A good basal fertilizer reduces the dependence on intensive in-season applications, favoring more stable and predictable nutrition. When the soil has adequate phosphorus and potassium levels at the beginning of the cycle, the tree can successfully face the periods of highest demand (nut set and filling), avoiding yield or quality losses.

Fertilone® 8.8.14:
Fertilone® 8.8.14 is a granulated organo-mineral fertilizer in pellet form, made from high-quality active organic matter that allows a gradual and sustained release of nutrients. Its balance fits perfectly with the needs of pistachio trees in production, providing the right levels of phosphorus and potassium to replenish crop extractions.
Its pellet form facilitates mechanical application and uniform distribution. The organic fraction improves soil structure, increases water retention, and stimulates microbial activity — key factors in soils poor in organic matter.
Fertilone® 8.8.14 is recommended as a basal fertilizer applied after harvest (autumn) or at the end of winter, before budbreak. The indicative rate is 600 to 1200 kg/ha (approximately 1.5 to 4 kg/tree), depending on soil fertility and expected yield. Apply in the canopy projection area and lightly incorporate into the soil to improve efficiency.
These recommendations are indicative and should be adjusted according to specialized technical criteria. For optimal management, we recommend consulting an agronomic advisor or contact our technical department.

The foundation of a productive pistachio orchard with Fertilone® 8.8.14.
Basal fertilization with Fertilone® 8.8.14 offers a balanced, effective, and sustainable solution for pistachio orchards in production. It provides essential nutrients with gradual release, improves soil structure and biological activity, and helps maintain stable yields and high-quality nuts, ensuring long-term profitability.
To maximize fertilization efficiency, it is essential to perform soil and tissue analyses, adjusting rates according to crop needs. Proper irrigation management ensures optimal nutrient uptake. In addition, foliar applications should be carried out during the coolest hours of the day to improve efficiency and reduce evaporation losses.
