Citrus flowering is a key process that directly determines the productive potential of the season. At this stage, it is not only important to supply nutrients, but also to ensure that the plant is able to assimilate and use them efficiently at a time of high physiological demand. In this context, the foliar application of Bigold® helps enhance the tree’s response during flowering, improving the effectiveness of boron and other nutrients involved in reproductive processes.

During flowering, citrus trees concentrate a high level of metabolic, energetic and hormonal activity in a short period of time. Factors such as variable climatic conditions, previous crop stress or nutritional imbalances can lead to irregular flowering, poor flower quality or reduced pollen viability, limiting fruit set potential. In many cases, these limitations are not related to a lack of nutrients, but to the plant’s difficulty in internally mobilising them towards the reproductive organs at the right moment.

Boron and other micronutrients play a decisive role in fertilisation and fruit set, but their effectiveness largely depends on the physiological condition of the flower and the metabolic balance of the tree. Stress situations or vegetative imbalances can limit their utilisation, even when they are correctly applied via foliar treatments. In addition, excessive vegetative stimulation during this stage may divert resources towards shoot growth at the expense of flowering, increasing physiological flower drop and reducing treatment efficiency.

Bigold®: stimulation and balanced nutritional support.

Bigold® is a liquid fertiliser formulated with NPK, enriched with a high content of seaweed extracts, alginic acid, mannitol and free amino acids. This combination is designed to act as a physiological biostimulant, supporting flowering without forcing vegetative growth. Its formulation provides energy support, improves foliar absorption and promotes more efficient metabolic performance of the tree during one of the most sensitive stages of the citrus crop cycle.

Orange flowering stimulant: Bigold.

One of the main values of Bigold® during flowering is its ability to enhance the absorption and action of nutrients applied together, facilitating their transport to reproductive organs and improving their utilisation in fertilisation and fruit set processes.

This action is complemented by the stimulating effect of Bigold®, which contributes to improved hormonal regulation, allowing flowers to respond more evenly and efficiently to available nutrients.

Bigold® acts as a synergistic product, improving the real effectiveness of nutritional treatments and contributing to higher-quality flowering with greater fruit set potential.

Foliar application of Bigold® is recommended at pre-flowering and/or early flowering stages, coinciding with visible floral buds or the first open flowers, to enhance the physiological response of the tree and improve the effectiveness of boron and other nutrients involved in flowering and fruit set. Indicative dose: 200–300 cc/hl (0.2–0.3%), adjusting according to canopy size, crop condition and environmental conditions. Apply by foliar spraying, ensuring good leaf coverage without runoff, preferably early in the morning or late in the afternoon, avoiding treatments during periods of maximum sunlight or stress. Bigold® can be used alone or integrated into flowering programmes as a nutritional efficiency enhancer, especially when combined with boron.

These recommendations are indicative and should be adjusted using specialised technical criteria. For a personalised recommendation, consult an agronomic advisor or contact our technical department.

Bigold® and the enhancement of orange tree flowering.

Bigold® acts during citrus flowering as a physiological enhancer, improving the assimilation and utilisation of boron and other nutrients involved in reproductive processes. Its biostimulant action, together with its balanced nutritional support, allows for more uniform flowering, higher-quality flowers and greater fruit set potential, without compromising the vegetative balance of the crop.
