Fertilization and nutrition of pear trees

The pear tree requires deep, well-drained soils and is sensitive to excess salts and waterlogging. Its fertilization must balance nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium throughout the cycle: nitrogen in spring, phosphorus for roots and flowering, and potassium for fruit quality. It responds very well to organic matter, and after harvest it is advisable to replenish reserves of potassium, calcium, and magnesium.

Base fertilization represents a strategic phase, as it conditions root development, the vegetative–productive balance and the crop’s response to subsequent nutritional applications. A sound technical approach at this stage makes it possible to optimize resources and reduce costs throughout the season.
